Here is the story of Sheena Muhn - a story of a dream realized through persistence,
hard work, patience and a positive attitude.

Sheena started with SVS by enrolling in its Hollister Community Integration Program on 3/1/05.
In the program Sheena participated in community outings and worked on the in-house janitorial crew.
She was a good worker, had a very positive attitude and had boundless energy.

Sheena also had a dream - she wanted to be able to live on her own.
In her view she was old enough and responsible enough. She just needed some help.

Upon conferring with her family and her San Andreas Regional center service coordinator,
it was decided that getting a job would be a critical  first step toward realizing her dream.

As fate would have it, SVS Hollister was just then developing a new service - Supported Employment.
This option seemed to make sense for Sheena, so with the participation and support of her family and SARC, a referral was made to SVS Supported Employment Program.
The goal was to help Sheena find a job in Morgan Hill, the community where
her family lived and where she would eventually like to get an apartment of her own.

After a few months of job development SVS obtained employment for Sheena on 9/15/05
at the Safeway supermarket in Morgan Hill as a courtesy clerk
This was
SVS Hollister's first Supported Employment placement and it was a great fit.
Now, some three years later, Sheena is still working at Safeway between 24 and 40 hours per week.

In December, 2007, after establishing an impressive work history at Safeway, Sheena was referred to
another new service at SVS Hollister - Supported Living (SLS)
After the development of a transition plan in October 2008,
Sheena proudly moved into her new apartment in Morgan Hill in November 2008.
With the supports she receives each month Sheena is making the most of her independence.

Sheena loves her apartment. She loves her job. Life is good.
Though very busy, Sheena has recently begun to volunteer at
"The Lord's Table" in Gilroy where she works as a meal server for the homeless on Sundays.

Though it took some time, some patience and a lot of work, Sheena was able to realize her dream with the help of her support system of friends, family and the staff of SVS and San Andreas Regional Center.

Thank you, Sheena, for allowing all of us to be part of your success story!
